We're 40 Days Into The MLB Lockout And There Is No Real End In Sight

We're now 40 days into the MLB Lockout and I'm still not 100% sure Rob Manfred knows something is wrong with his sport. Does he even know there is a lockout? Probably not. We're right about 35 days away from pitchers and catchers starting to report and now is the time that baseball fans should be nervous on if that is going to happen. The fact that there is basically 0 news or update from anyone on either side shows this thing isn't even close to being done. Obviously with the holidays a few weeks back nothing was going to get done, but we're almost halfway through January, get your shit in line and start figuring this out so we can have a full baseball season that starts on time. Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers did a fantastic piece with updates and FAQs about the lockout, but at the end of the day the answers are all depressing and don't look good for baseball, the fans, and Manfred. All that is happening is precious time is being wasted. The union wants wants the league to make a move and the league wants the union to make a move. It's a big traffic jam and no one is moving. There are no public plans for both sides to come together and meet either, so basically we're screwed.

The first spring training games are on February 26th, that is not that far away people and there is a ton of work that needs to be done. It almost seems impossible for each side to pull their heads out of their asses and start communicating so we can have the season start when it's supposed to. If that happened, oh man. It would be another insanely big black eye on the face of Rob Manfred and MLB. And obviously you can sacrifice some spring training games and cut a few off, but the longer this drags on the less and less games you can miss before it's going to dig into Opening Day.

For all we know Manfred is just lounging around his house, waking up at 11 am every day without a care in the world. Meanwhile MLB writers are going CRAZY trying to find articles to write about former players, MLB team accounts are arguing what is a planet, and since the MLB can't even send players to events they had to bring out the rally monkey again. Everyone involved in the sport is losing their minds and I think fans are too. This is about the time you start itching for baseball, you see NFL playoffs about to start and you realize that shortly after the Super Bowl is when things are going to get kicked off, but who knows now. I actually can't believe that the person who runs baseball doesn't even like the sport. It's insane. It seems like Manfred is 100% okay with letting this drag on and on and on. No one in the sport can do anything until Tony Clark and Rob Manfred start acting like adults, and that is a scary thought. All baseball fans can do is basically sit on their hands and start to pray that these knuckleheads start to figure it out and soon.
