How Much Longer Will 76ers Fans Put Up With Ben Simmons' Jackassery?

Ben Simmons is an incredible young talent. I find myself more and more impressed every day that not only was he able to make it to the NBA, but to be selected as the #1 overall pick all while handicapping himself by playing exclusively with his off-hand is one of the more impressive feats in modern sports history. But now that he’s two years removed from that draft, after just securing Rookie of the Year, pushing the Sixers to the second round of the playoffs, I’m wondering what else he’s trying to prove by keeping up this ruse. Is he trying to win MVP while keeping up this charade? I need to know.

Because the more time he spends trying to perfect this slingshot ass jumper

“Oh, yup, definitely shooting this with his right hand.”

“Yup, pretty far along into the process of a jumpshot here. Still very much obvious that he’s going to attempt this with his right hand. The context clues to this are his right shoulder being slightly out in front of his left, along with his entire lower body being that of a right handed shooter.”

“What in the entire fuck just happened?”

The more space teams are going to give him when he’s on the perimeter, completely unafraid of said slingshot ass jumper.

I don’t know why I continue to bring this up. I am not a Sixers fan, Ben Simmons switching back to his right hand would only hurt the Celtics long term. But I’m a sucker for greatness and being able to witness it in my time. I want this generational talent to reach his full potential, which is something he simply cannot accomplish with this slingshot ass jumper. And as I’ve said before, clearly his left hand is a weapon with his handles and ability to pass with either hand. Him being so advanced with his left in the non-shooting aspects of basketball will pay dividends for the rest of his career. And once you add in the fact that he’s also a terrific defender it starts to become absolutely maddening that the one negative aspect of his game appears to be so god damn fixable. I truly do wonder how much longer 76ers fans will be cool with this, because as of last check they remain ardent defenders that not only is he a lefty but that the jump shots you see above are a good sign. Don’t be enablers, Philadelphia. You look this problem square in the face and you nip it in the bud before he’s too far gone.
