I Am All About This Ryan Kesler – Ryan Johansen Beef
A very quiet time in the NHL world right now. Most big name free agents have signed, not many trades happening, overall, it’s been a pretty quiet summer in the NHL. That is, until last night. Ryan Kesler fired off a tweet, suggesting he and Ryan Johansen meet up this summer and settle their beef “in the streets”. Johansen responded with a tweet of his own, suggesting to Kesler that he’ll pay for his parking. Decent chirp to say the least.
I’m all about this. This is why I internet. The NHL has legitimately none of this. It’s sad how much a little twitter beef actually gets my blood flowing. But if it can get people to talk about the NHL in the way they talk about the NBA, then how can one not like it?
The NBA always finds a way to seem relevant when they play during the same time of year as the NHL. Why are people always talking about the NBA and not the NHL? Well, for one, social media. The way NBA players use social media keeps them relevant and creates headlines. Look at Joel Embiid for instance. Dude is a star. Both on and off the court. From his tweets about Rihanna to chirping other players, he keeps his name, and the NBA’s in people’s mouth.
So again, I love this. I wish more players did this. Gary Bettman should hold a seminar on how to take digs at other NHL players on twitter. I especially love it between these two. These guys really fucking hate eachother. It’s awesome.
I mean, the guys dropped as Centers off a faceoff. How often do you see that happen in the NHL? Two guys who can put the puck in the net dropping the gloves off the faceoff. In today’s NHL? That never happens. Ever.
Let’s not forget about the time Johansen basically said that Ryan Kesler’s family should hate him for sticking people in the nuts every night. Not a bad chirp. Can’t knock it. Nothing worse than a guy throwing hacks to the dick.
The Ducks and Preds will meet on November 8th this year. If both guys are on the ice, this will be must watch hockey. I don’t want a fight at the opening faceoff to start the game, I need it.
