Jeanie Buss Tried To Tell Us This Kawhi Situation Was Going To Happen

HOLY SHIT. The news surrounding Leonard is certainly a surprise, but not completely unexpected. I guess the meeting in NY the other day didn’t do the trick because the Spurs are now faced with a tough decision. You can kiss any leverage they had in potentially trading Leonard goodbye, which is crazy because the return they are going to get for a Top 5 player when healthy is going to look brutal. Without an extension in place, who is going to give up major assets? Perhaps the Spurs had faith earlier in the year that things could be worked out when they turned down the Celtics offer back in February, but now they are shit out of luck.

Well look at what we now know. That the Lakers are at the top of Kawhi’s list. Remember this photo when Kawhi was spotted at a Dodgers game? It all makes sense now

If Kawhi ends up getting traded to the Lakers you can almost bank on the fact they’ll probably end up with PG13 and maybe Lebron. In that blog I talked about how this tweet was probably around something none of us saw coming, and I’d say this fits the bill. Now in terms of what the Lakers can offer the Spurs, they do have a nice combination of young talent/picks that might be the best the Spurs can get on the open market. Maybe we see a little sign and trade action with Julius Randle’s RFA. Kawhi only makes around $20M so the Lakers can definitely find a way to make it happen. This is why you can’t ever sleep during the NBA offseason, one second you’re minding your own business and the next minute we have a fucking cosmic shift in the NBA landscape.
