Jeanie Buss Throws Her Name Into The Ring Of This Wild NBA Summer

Celebrities At The Los Angeles Lakers Game

Look the very first rule of the NBA offseason in today’s world is you always have to keep your head on a swivel. You never know what player is going to tweet an emoji, or what rumor will hit the internet streets. This time of year we should all be on high alert for even the slightest bit of news that isn’t really news but is most definitely news. Which brings me to this tweet last night from Jeanie Buss. You know, the Jeanie Buss that runs the Lakers. Those same Lakers that have been the hottest rumored team to become the NBA’s next super team. The team that theorectically could open up $60M+ in cap space with ease.

Between the recruiting that definitely went on the other day with Josh Hart and Paul George, I find the timing of this tweet rather interesting. I don’t think anyone actually underestimates the Lakers, I mean they are a historic franchise with a shit ton of space and play in a warm weather city. Here’s the thing though, now that this is out there, you can’t turn back. You have to deliver in my opinion, because if all they end up with is resigning Randle and mediocre second and third tier free agents, then this looks pretty silly. That tells me there is more to the story and someone(s), has committed to the Lakers. If this were just about Paul George I don’t think we get this tweet. My brain is convinced the whole point of telling us to not underestimate them is because they have pulled off something many people thought would not happen. Is it George AND Lebron? Is there a mystery third guy we aren’t even thinking of? Maybe….Chris Paul or Kawhi? The endless possibilities are what makes this so much fun. Sure there’s the chance she is just trolling all of NBA Twitter, but again this time of year is all about seeing what isn’t there and running with it.

So here’s what I need. I need the internet to be monitoring her plane, I need random people on the streets to be taking pictures of any and all NBA star free agents that are rumored to be in the same location. We’re just a few weeks away from free agency officially opening, so we have to work as a unit to figure this shit out. We can’t sit here and wait for Woj/Shams to drop the bomb. We need to mobilize quickly because  now is the time to unleash the best investigation tactics the internet has ever seen.

While I would love nothing more than to see the Lakers strike out and look foolish, I think it’s time we all start preparing for a world where the Lakers are back, and back in a big way.
