You'll have to excuse me that lost in the shuffle of MDW and the ensuing gorgeous onslaught of weather is the fact that Barstool Chicago actually did a nice little crossover with two childhood heroes of the 90's. Jerry Springer and Steve Wilkos. Legitimate icons in a world where that word is so overplayed and improperly used. Let there be no doubt. These dudes were viral superstars when you had to hang up the phone to send an instant message to some babes. Those were grinder times for being a horny adolescent and Jerry kept us entertained the whole way.
Steve's arc is arguably more impressive than Jerry's. He didn't have any of the polish, just all the lovability. Working security as a side gig to make some cash and help buddies is a slam dunk move for a guy like Steve Wilkos in the 90's. The fact he went from wearing a blue shirt for the CPD to now being one of the longest standing day time talk show hosts of all time is absolutely fucking crazy. And to think it's because we fell in love with him for cracking skulls and cleaning up Jerry's trash. That to me is a real American success story. The cop side hustle that ended up with him being a multi millionaire. Part of me feels like Steve Wilkos did this for everybody. We all get to celebrate his glow up and blow up.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8Fh587rCjg&t=2s
Elsewhere can I interest you in Jerry Springer's most outrageous moments?
I blogged this thinking it would be hard to pick between a bunch of moments but it was actually impossible to find any classics. Really goes to show you how much shit has changed when everything the last 10 years is clipped up and HD and available for on-demand consumption.
Than there's guys like me that have a soft spot for this kind of bygone era:
Call me a Boomer but TV just hit different then. Enjoyable in the same way of cutting grass. Really takes just enough effort for you to completely zone out. You're rewarded for attention to detail. There's an advantage if you have a strategy. Otherwise you could be in for a long day of jamming your thumb into that fuel pump and feeling like an asshole. That's watching TV to me in the 90's and I'm proud to say two of its kings graced Barstool Chicago this week. That's big shit for me even if it may not register in the algorithm quite like Susanna's hoots. Shoutout to anyone who gets that joke.
If you missed it, you're on the outside Subscribe to Barstool Chicago on YouTube so you don't miss any more of these zingers.
