Airmen Lose Grenades, Machine Gun In North Dakota, NBD

The 91st Missile Wing security forces, based out of Minot AFB (Air Force Base) in North Dakota, are not having the best of Mays. According to the Minot Daily News, they were on a training convoy when an ammo can fell out of a Humvee hatch. The contents?

“Thirty-two 40mm high-explosive dual purpose grenade rounds meant for use with the MK19 Machine Gun.”

Ah-yikes… ::collar pull:: Sources say the rounds are believed to have fallen out somewhere between the towns of ‘Fuck, Fuck, Fuck’ and ‘Does This Mean We Can’t Go Out This Weekend’ in Mountrail County.

There’s a 5k reward being offered, and over 100 Airmen had to conduct a police-call search over a six-mile stretch of road, several times, but nothing turned up and they’ve since given up. And just when they thought it couldn’t get any worse… they lose track of an M240.

Missing grenades: not good. Missing grenades & machine gun: like, super not good. I’m not familiar with the inner workings of the Air Force, but if this happened in the Marines (and things like this have happened) anyone within 6 degrees of the incident would be absolutely fucked, and life would be miserable for quite some time.

This seems like a prime opportunity for me to step in and help (and reel in that sweet, sweet reward cash by pulling a Dog the Bounty Hunter type thing, but with less racism & more mullet and fringe). If you’d like to tag along, my crumbling CR-V is taking off from the Folsom WaWa in Delco at Midnite. Will accept Butterscotch Krimpets in lieu of gas money.
