Is Sean Miller Gearing Up To Sue ESPN For Lying About Him?

SI - As Arizona coach Sean Miller forcibly professed his innocence on Thursday in a statement that affirmed his status with the team, a source familiar with the college hoops corruption investigation confirmed with SI that the details of a wiretapped phone call involving Miller were inaccurately reported in a story by ESPN that said Miller “discussed paying $100,000 to ensure star freshman Deandre Ayton signed with the Wildcats.”According to the source, relevant FBI wiretaps in the investigation did not begin until 2017—months after five-star recruit Deandre Ayton had already committed to Arizona in Sept. 2016. This account is consistent with reporting by Evan Daniels of 247Sports.

I swear to god it never ends with ESPN. I mean this has Deflategate all over it. Once again ESPN has tried to highjack a major story with what appears to be wildly inaccurate facts and lies. The only difference is unlike Deflategate this time ESPN keeps issuing retractions and corrections regarding their bombshell Sean Miller story. For those keeping score at home they have alredy issued 3 corrections on it. Umm a little late guys since you basically tried to ruin his life, a young student athlete’s life and the entire AZ basketball program. Meanwhile Sports Illustrated and other outlets are basically all saying the ESPN story is 100% false. That there is no way Sean Miller could have been caught by the FBI talking about recruiting Deandre Ayton because the timeline of the FBI recordings started months after he already committed.  How could they catch him saying they needed to pay him 100K to come when he already declared?

So now the real question is whether Sean Miller will sue ESPN for defamation of character. It probably won’t happen because it’s so difficult to sue for that and Miller would have to answer questions regarding the entire program that he’d rather not answer, but I wish he would. I mean at some point ESPN has to be held responsible for consistently lying and trying to ruin people’s lives all to generate a couple clicks. It’s sad and pathetic. People need to be fired and held responsible. If any organization should be investigated by the Feds it should be ESPN. People need to go to jail over there. Heads need to roll. That’s the only way this massive abuse of power will stop. As long as they are allowed to lie without punishment this will never end. When is enough enough?
