Sigh, Timberlake Says There Will Not Be An Nsync Reunion During The Super Bowl Halftime Show

AP - Justin Timberlake was asked about a bromance with Tom Brady, a possible ‘N Sync reunion and serenaded with “Happy Birthday,” but the superstar didn’t get a question about the wardrobe malfunction that rocked the world during a press conference Thursday to promote his return to the Super Bowl halftime show.

Timberlake ruled out any chance his former boy band ‘N Sync would join him Sunday or other potential special guests would show up — including Janet Jackson herself. Timberlake revealed only that his band, The Tennessee Kids, would join him onstage and predicted a show that will include things “never done before.”

Timberlake will be making his third Super Bowl musical appearance — a record. He first performed in 2001 when ‘N Sync performed alongside Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and Nelly.

I’ll never not be a sucker for nostalgia. It’s in my blood. And it’s no secret that the older you get (I’ll be 30 later on this year), the more it makes you miss how things used to be. It’s why old people don’t need this newfangled “internet” or the Snapface or Instabook. Just give them a quill pen to write a letter and the Iliad to read and they are good to go.

Me? I was raised on a healthy does of TRL. Carson Daly counted down the top 10 music videos of the day live from Times Square and it was must-watch television. Anyone who was anyone performed on TRL, had a music video debut on TRL, or got into the top 10 countdown on TRL. You wouldn’t want to miss it.

Which is why it sucks we aren’t getting our Nsync reunion at the Super Bowl halftime show. An entire generation of Americans are pining for the group to get back together just one time. And there’s no better time than on the big stage. Beyonce threw the other two members of Destiny’s Child a bone and let them come on stage with her, and they knocked it out of the park. Plus the other two got to quit their jobs at Hertz and Denny’s, respectively, due to the sudden upswing in Destiny’s Child album sales on iTunes. Sorry JC Chasez, you won’t be quitting your job at Lids anytime soon.

I’m sure JT’s performance will be spectacular. He has 100 bangers. He’s a showman. He’s the full package. But it would be so cool if he mixed in a little “Bye Bye Bye” or “Tearin’ Up My Heart” with the rest of the guys. Sigh. At least there’s always a chance of another Janet Jackson?
