Ray Allen Says He Was Catfished By A Guy Acting As A Woman
AP- Retired NBA star Ray Allen said he is a victim of “catfishing,” and has asked a court to throw out a case where he is accused of stalking someone he met online. Allen filed an emergency motion in Orange County, Florida, on Tuesday, one day after Bryant Coleman told the court he is being stalked by the 10-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion.
Allen said Coleman is the one who is stalking. “Coleman pretended to be a number of attractive women interested in Ray Allen,” read the motion filed on Allen’s behalf. “Ray believed he was speaking with these women and communicated with them.”
Attorney David Oscar Markus released a statement saying Allen took legal action in an effort to put an end to threats against him and his family, and that Allen was the victim “of an online scheme to extract money and embarrass him by someone who appears to be troubled.”
In the filing, Allen said Coleman threatened to reveal details of their conversations, and that the sides eventually struck a deal to keep everything private. Allen said that deal has been violated and that Coleman has continued to harass him and his family through several social-media accounts.
“He posted about Ray’s wife, Ray’s children, Ray’s dog, Ray’s homes, Ray’s wife’s restaurant, and numerous other personal items,” read the motion. “Coleman not only posted about these things, he would actually post while physically located inside Ray’s wife’s restaurant in Orlando. And he would make sure they knew it, tagging Ray and his wife on those posts.”
Allen asked the court to stop Coleman from “cyber-stalking.” It was not clear if Coleman has an attorney, and a working phone number for him could not be found.

And just like that Ray Allen adds another milestone to his long, storied, crazy ass resume. Future Hall of Famer, two-time NBA champion, 10-time NBA All-Star, all-time leader in threes, All-American, hit one of the greatest shots in Big East Tournament history.
As well as NBA Finals history.
And most importantly (according to Carmelo Anthony, probably) Gold Medalist.
But in addition to all that, Ray Allen is like the Forrest Gump of off the court shit too. He starred in one of the best basketball movies ever that also included one of the greatest sex scenes ever. He somehow became the black sheep of the 2000s Celtics to the point where they didn’t want him invited to their reunion. And of course he a “hacker” sent perhaps the greatest Supposed To Be A DM Tweet ever.
Now we can add getting catfished by what sounds like a legitimate crazy person to the list. The amount of tags that someone used, whether they are user tags or geo tags lets you know just how obsessed they are with you and this dude sounds like he was OBSESSED with Ray Ray. I have no idea who is in stalking who. Thinking about catfishing in general makes my brain hurt. The fact that people become shapeshifters online like they are Maui from Moana and it has become an accepted part of this world to the point it has its own show on MTV is crazy. I still remember KMarko covering the Manti Te’o case and my brain bleeding as new details emerged.
The craziest shit is that Ray Allen was quiet as a church mouse on the court yet somehow pops up in the middle of shit like this off of it. It’s wild. I could hear any story of Ray Allen off the court now and it wouldn’t shock me. He has entered the Tyson Zone despite having the outward demeanor of Rocky. It doesn’t make any fucking sense. The one part that does make sense is that an ex-athlete can get catfished. I can’t even imagine what the DMs of any relatively famous athlete looks like. And if Ray Allen is known for one thing, it’s shooting his shot.
P.S. Ray Allen’s list of nicknames are nothing short of spectacular. I feel like he probably has a few we don’t know off the court as well, wink wink, that must be legendary.
