Will This Carrot Fulfill Its Life-Long Dream Of Going to Outer Space?

Look, I’m not sure if this carrot has the physical requirements to go to space. While high in beta-carotene, I’m not sure if the carrot has the mental makeup that’s required for a deep-space mission.

Let’s take a look at some of the requirements that NASA has for becoming an astronaut.

1. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological science, physical science, computer science or mathematics.
2. At least three years of related professional experience obtained after degree completion OR at least 1,000 hours pilot-in-command time on jet aircraft.
3. The ability to pass the NASA long-duration astronaut physical. Distant and near visual acuity must be correctable to 20/20 for each eye. The use of glasses is acceptable.

1. It’s impossible to know the educational background of this carrot. If I had to guess, I would have thought that the carrot studied culinary arts which would be a disqualifier. But then I remembered that there are lots of trendy food places that use chemical engineering to alter the state of veggies and whathaveyou. I believe that chemical engineering would qualify for this portion of the requirements but the language isn’t clear. Giving the carrot the benefit of the doubt, I’m gonna say yes. It meets this standard.

2. I’ve never seen the carrot fly but I’ve never seen my pilot who is taking me from Jacksonville to Texas fly either. So, it’s hard to say. Meets the standard (as far as we know).

3. The physical. Vision is no issue because carrots are known to help you see more sharply. I don’t think the vision will be an issue especially if corrective lenses could help. Beta-carotene is known to help near-sightedness so the carrot could suffer from being far-sighted but if corrective lenses are fine, then we’ll be ok.

Look, the standard is the standard, and it appears as though this carrot has as good as chance as any. Good luck to her and her family. You thought the carrot was a male? Kinda sexist. Shame on you.
