Trump On Nunes And Wiretapping Claims: "So That Means I'm Right..."

WrestleMania 23

So yesterday, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes (who’s the intel committee chairman) twisted himself into a bit of a pretzel. He said, because of a FISA warrant, information on Trump transition team individuals was “incidentally collected.”

Basically saying officials were investigating other shit and, in the process, “incidentally” snooped on the Trump team. This happened AFTER the election, and was not ordered by Obama, which is in stark contrast to Trump’s claim that Obama wiretapped him in the weeks leading up to the election, but that didn’t stop Donnie from claiming vindication.

Fox News — Several individuals on the Trump team were eventually “unmasked” and had their identities “widely disseminated,” despite the information being of limited intelligence value, Nunes said. The bombshell news conference appeared to partially back up Trump’s assertion earlier this month that former President Barack Obama had “wiretapped” him.

“Wow … so that means I’m right,” Trump told Time magazine while reading another outlet’s article about the Nunes news conference.

The problem here is that Nunes may not be allowed to have divulged such information. And the precedent of doing it the way he did it, and with the implications it has with Trump’s recent claims, it came off as bizarre.

Good ole John McCain came out and said Nunes’ move was weird.

Nunes also did not deny that he got the info he briefed the White House on… from the White House.

Everyone’s a little confused about the whole thing. Was this orchestrated by the White House? Was it legal? Is it a big deal at all? Does this sort of shit happen all the time? Does it vindicate Trump’s wiretapping claims?

Today he apologized to Democrats.

BloombergHouse Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes apologized to the panel’s Democrats Thursday for how he disclosed information about surveillance related to Donald Trump, two committee aides said.

I don’t really know, but what I do know is… here’s a clip of Nunes saying he likes Trump’s tweets.

Again, not really sure what to make of it all. Nunes seems to be condemned by both sides, a rare and — if I must say so myself — impressive feat.

If you check out the internet with a pro-Trump lens, you’ll see everyone claiming he was right all along. If you go with an anti-Trump lens, you’ll see that Nunes is an irresponsible, law-breaking puppet playing whatever role the White House asks him to.

Thus is politics. Carry on everybody.
