ESPN - Statement from Josh Gordon “After careful thought and deep consideration I’ve decided that I need to step away from pursuing my return to the Browns and my football career to enter an in-patient rehabilitation facility. This is the right decision for me and one that I hope will enable me to gain full control of my life and continue on a path to reach my full potential as a person. I appreciate the support of the NFL, NFLPA, the Browns, my teammates, my agent and the community through this extremely challenging process.” Statement from Executive VP of Football Operations Sashi Brown on Josh Gordon “We support Josh in taking this step to seek additional help and treatment. His singular focus must be on his own health. We want nothing more than for Josh to be successful personally and professionally and will not comment on his status with the organization at this time.”

Quite possibly the first good decision Josh Gordon has ever made. This dude has not been able to stay out of trouble, hasn’t been able to avoid getting DUIs, drug arrests, and all that good stuff since he entered the league. Always suspended, never on the field. And now finally, at long last, he is entering rehab. Good for him for realizing he has deeper problems and he needs that shit figured out ASAP. And even better for him- he doesn’t have to rejoin the Browns. Talk about the best of the best of the best PR decision. No better time than now to go to rehab. Go in the offseason? Naw, fuck that. Smoke and drink all offseason, wait to see how the Browns are doing, and base your decision of when to go to rehab off that. If the Browns are good, he joins them, if they stink, he goes to rehab and nobody can say shit. Perfectly executed by him.
