The News On Starsburg Is...Not Awful, For Now

ICYMI, Strasburg left last night’s game with “elbow soreness”. It wasn’t normal soreness though, it was oh shit, this looks awful soreness. A little good news to go with the obvious bad news. The good news for now is they did the MRI and it isn’t the UCL, which is the “Tommy John” ligament. Instead, he has a strained flexor mass, which doesn’t necessarily mean he’s in the clear, but it doesn’t mean he’s going immediately to Dr Andrews either.

The time table is fuzzy on this return, or if he will at all this season. Some guys miss a month, which would put Stras on track to return in October. That’s clearly best of the best case scenarios. The worst case? He needs TJ anyway. Your boy Banks let me know all the Orioles who have had TJ in the last few years also started this way:

We all know Strasburg has the history with his elbow. We all know he struggled with soreness all during August. And we all know DC sports gonna DC sports. So I’m not overly optimistic about his $175 million elbow. Big blow for the Nats and their World Series hopes. We all know how this went last time the Nats didn’t have Stas for the postseason…Good times.
