Unsealed Court Docs - Joe Paterno Allegedly Said "I Have a Football Season To Worry About" To Sandusky Victim In 1976

Penn State Nittany Lions v Ohio State Buckeyes

Jerry Sandusky Sentenced In Major Child Molestation Case

PennLiveAn expert asked by Penn State’s liability insurance provider to assess when key university officials should have had known about child sex-assault allegations involving Jerry Sandusky has identified six different cases dating to 1976.

Risk management expert Raymond Williams said those cases involved three incidents that were reportedly witnessed by other assistant coaches on the Penn State staff at the time, and three others that were reported to university officials.

Williams’ report [was] embedded within a series of documents that were unsealed in the insurance coverage case by Philadelphia Judge Gary Glazer Tuesday.

Joe Pa fans:

I mean what else do you want the guy to do? He already died. They ripped his damn statue down and his legacy outside of Happy Valley is ruined forever. At this point you guys are just kind of piling on. And for what? Because he was directly told by a victim that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him in 1976? And an expert testified under oath that there were 6 opportunities for Penn State to report Sandusky but failed to do so?

The eyewitness cases at the time involved the 2001 incident witnessed by then-graduate assistant Michael McQueary.

But they also covered:

-Improper sexual contact between Sandusky and a minor in 1987 that was witnessed by then-assistant coach Joe Sarra. Sarra died in July 2012.

-Improper sexual contact between Sandusky and a child in 1988 that was witnessed by then-assistant coach Kevin O’Dea. O’Dea is currently employed as the special team coach for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Williams also identified three cases where significant reports were made, including:

-A 1976 incident where an alleged victim made a report to then-head football coach Joe Paterno.

-A report by an alleged victim that was referred to then-Penn State Athletic Director Jim Tarman in 1988.

-The 1998 report that the mother of a boy filed with Penn State’s university police department, was investigated, and later dropped with no charges filed by the Centre County district attorney’s office. Like the 2001 incident, Sandusky’s criminal case had previously established that this incident was known to several of Penn State’s highest-ranking administrators.

Ok but that “report” from the alleged victim in ’76, was it kind of just in passing, maybe muttered under his breath while Paterno was distracted?

CENTRE DAILY – The victim, who was identified in court records as John Doe 150, said that while he was attending a football camp at Penn State, Sandusky touched him as he showered. Sandusky’s finger penetrated the boy’s rectum, Doe testified in court in 2014, and the victim asked to speak with Paterno about it. Doe testified that he specifically told Paterno that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him, and Paterno ignored it.

“Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?’” the man’s lawyer asked him in 2014.

“Specifically. Yes . . . I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted. . . I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

Paterno, the man testified, just walked away.

I’m supposed to just believe “John Doe 150″ over a guy who won 409 games? Nice try.
