Is There Anything More Intense Than A Penalty Shot In Overtime During The Playoffs?

PS

Nope. The answer is no.

After Calvin de Haan was whistled for closing his glove on the puck in the crease, the Florida Panthers were gifted a 1-on-1 chance to take a 3-2 series lead.

In all my years of watching hockey I don’t think I’ve ever seen a call like that in a regular season OT, let alone during the playoffs. Overtime is intense enough, each shot comes with mini heart-palpulations and every second off the clock makes you wish you picked up smoking back when all the cool kids were on the corner just across from school puffing Newports. So to have your team’s future hanging in the balance of your #2 goalie [technically] is a situation I wish on no man.

Head coach Brett Gallant entrusted Andre Barkov with the game literally on his stick, but Thomas Greiss came out the victor, and continued what has been one of his best games in an Isles sweater.

Currently waiting for the start of Double-OT/my impending death. Hooray!
