The Manitowoc County Paper Has A Savage Headline On Whether Brendan Dassey'll Be Watching WrestleMania This Year

Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter – When WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H battles challenger Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32 on Sunday, fan Brendan Dassey will not be watching, reports TMZ Sports in a four-paragraph “exclusive.”

At one point in the hit Netflix docu-series, “Making a Murderer,” Dassey frets that he’s going to miss the show.

It’s been 10 years since his arrest — and 10 years since he watched WrestleMania.

TMZ explains Dassey has “lost all hope” in terms of WrestleMania since a prison transfer a few months ago.

“Dassey transferred to Columbia Criminal Institution in Wisconsin in January, and prison officials tell us there’s a strict rule against violence, foul language and nudity for TV viewing. That means the WWE’s main event is off the table, so avid wrestling fan Dassey is screwed.”

Poor Brendan Dassey. It feels like so long ago since we were all swept up in Making A Murderer fever but while our lives moved on, poor Brendan Dassey’s hasn’t. And I bet that goes for Manitowoc County ten times over. They probably saw this story on TMZ and are so tired of having their town tied to this family whom they all hated so much and just jump on any chance they can to twist the knife a little bit. All I want out of this world is Brendan Dassey to be able to enjoy all of the misadventures of Roman Reigns and co like I will in Dallas this weekend and, instead, he’s like practically middle aged and never getting to see a single head lock or crotch chop. Bums me out every single time I hear about it and frankly it breaks my damn heart in a way developmentally disabled men from across the country so rarely do.

Also I’m sure someone has made this argument before but all the shit we give prisoners and this poor kid can’t get to watch wrestling? I binge watched Prison Break over the last few weeks to gear up for the new season so I like to consider myself something of an expert on the penal system and I simply cannot believe they’d look the other way on so many things but not let this kid enjoy some fictionalized combat. It’s even on basic cable for part of the event this year. If we’re not going to free Brendan Dassey for a crime he almost definitely didn’t commit, at least let him enjoy the spoils of sweaty men pretending to be tough and angry, he doesn’t get that much in jail on a day to day basis.
