The Teens Who Attacked A Marine Vet Over Black Lives Matter Will Not Be Charged With A Hate Crime

(Source) Two teens who were arrested for attacking a decorated Marine in Washington D.C. will not be facing hate crime charges – despite evoking race before beating and robbing him, said the veteran. Former Sgt. Christopher Marquez told Fox and Friends yesterday that so far a male and a female teenager have been charged in connection with his attack at a local McDonald’s. The male is being charged with aggravated assault, and the female with pickpocketing, said Marquez. But the Marine hero says this doesn’t take into account his report that the teens had called him a racist, and asked him if “black lives matter.” Surveillance footage shows the suspects knocking Marquez unconscious, before reportedly running away with his wallet. “I believe that I should get the same type of protection as other people in this country,” the veteran told Brian Kilmeade. “We all know that if this were the other way around, it would be considered a hate crime automatically.”

Blogged about this story on Friday and just got sent an update and wanted to share. Not sure how someone, let alone a Marine vet can get attacked over refusing to respond to a Black Lives Matter inquiry and the aggressors not get charged with a hate crime? I dropped out of pre-law classes in like a semester (because like every 17 year old white male, that was my first idea for college), so I could be a little hazy here, but I feel like when race and violence are involved then it’s a hate crime? Again, could be wrong, but that’s my understanding.

Sgt. Marquez did the right thing, he ignored anyone trying to talk to him in public. I don’t care if you’re asking me if Black Lives Matter or if all white people should be murdered, I’m not responding. Those are the rules of 2016 America. Want this flyer? Head down, keep walking. Sign this petition? Head down, keep walking. Do Black Lives Matter? Head down, walk maybe a bit faster. That’s how you be polite. He was then called a racist and beaten. That’s hate and a crime. Hate crime. His last name is Marquez so you can say it’s a black on Hispanic hate crime if that’s easier, but let’s just call it what it is, guys.
