Brandon Marshall Flat Out Says "I Don't Want Kaepernick"
PFT – On Tuesday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported that quarterback Colin Kaepernick wants to leave the 49ers and that the Jets are his preferred next team. The Jets’ top receiver isn’t lobbying for that change in address. During an appearance on ESPN Wednesday, Brandon Marshall said that he thinks Kaepernick is good but that the team has its quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick. “I don’t want Kaepernick,” Marshall said. “I think he’s good. My guy’s Fitz. It’s nothing against Kaepernick. … I have my quarterback, so I’m good.”
To be honest I think this whole Kaepernick thing is completely inflated or perhaps even fabricated. I think theres a chance Manish Mehta made the whole thing up. So I never think there was anything to this story in the first place. But despite that its nice to see someone just put the kibosh on this whole idea. Fitz’s season speaks for itself and there’s no way management was ever gonna entertain these ideas to begin with, but its great to see B Marsh come out and flat out say no. He did it in such a way that it comes off more as praising his current quarterback, which is smart because it A) gives props to Fitz and B) doesnt come off as talking shit on Kaepernick. But at the same time this is about as blunt as you’ll see a player be about a potential acquisition. “I dont want Kaepernick.” Awesome. Its only been a season but after leading the NFL in touchdowns and have a top 5 season, Brandon Marshall has taken on a huge leadership role with this team. Same goes for Fitz. After just 1 year that duo is in control of this team. So when a guy with 1500 yards and 14 TDs says that he wants the guy who threw for 4,000 and 31 TDs, I think you have your answer.
Manish Mehta is still out there running his mouth says Kaepernick is the franchise quarterback the Jets have been waiting for. I know its a business and I know the dude is probably a big success when it comes to headlines and clicks and shit because he’s all Jets fans ever talk about. But cmon man be realistic for me one time. Get outta here with this garbage.
