This Guy With A Crippling Fear Of Heights Who Tried (And Failed) To Walk On A 4,700 Foot High Glass Walkway Deserves Respect

ViralThread - An extreme fear of heights and a glass path 4,700 ft up a mountain don’t sound like a good mix.

And that proved to be the case for this poor guy. Of all the places not to go if you’ve got a fear of heights, a glass walkway with nothing but sheer drops below is right up there.

Completely see-through and admittedly very frightening, the walk-way snakes around the Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, China. And it’s now home to a video sensation after this guy’s reaction went viral.
 

It cannot have been fun to be this guy stuck 4,700 feet in the air and unable to handle it. It’s also not going to be fun if this video keeps going viral and people in his hometown start recognizing and mocking his freakout to his face. But I’ll be damned if I don’t respect this guy for putting his fears to the side and giving it a shot. He did not handle it well, not by any stretch. And his crying in his Pac-Man level jacket while people laughed and filmed him could was more than a bit shameful. But he tried. He obviously knew he had a fear of heights and dreaded every second getting to the top of the mountain but he still tried to conquer it with nothing but the power of his mind. The day you stop trying is the day you die, no matter how bad of a move it turns out to be in hindsight. Stupid. Egotistical. Courageous.

This is what bravery looks like. This is also what a man who definitely has 3 pounds of stir fry dumps swimming around in his pants looks like. They are not mutually exclusive.
