RIP To An Absolute Legend: My Personal Top 5 Favorite Stacey King Moments
Garrett Ellwood. Getty Images.Stacey King wasn't just a commentator for the Chicago Bulls, he was a friend of the entire City of Chicago. Throughout a lot of his twenty year tenure of calling Bulls games they were horrible, but he made them fun. His off hand comments, getting Adam Amin or Neil Funk two very serious commentators to start dying of laughter in the middle of a game, he loved to entertain. My entire life watching Bulls basketball Stacey King was a key piece of that. I can't imagine watching a game without him but if we knew Stacey he wouldn't want us to be sad, he'd want us to laugh and appreciate his legacy, here's my top 5 favorite clips in no order.
#5: "DERRICK ROSE CAN GO UPSTAIRS. DID YOU NOT GET THE MEMO????"
Legitimately the best part of Derrick Rose's run in Chicago is that we had Stacey on the mic every game. He made Derricks big moments feel even larger and even HIGHER than he jumped. This was an iconic call and iconic play I cannot even count how many times I've watched this clip. "Did you not get the memo?" is absolutely hilarious too.
#4: "GIMME THE HOT SAUCE" Kyle "Hot Sauce" Korver
Gimme the hot sauce was just an iconic quote from Stacey but this was one of the best usages of it. Game three of the playoffs at home in the UC and the place was just on absolute fire, man this was something special. He LOVED to say this to Kyle Korver too, absolute sniper from three during his time in Chicago.
#3: "OHHHHH LAWD ELIZABETH, I'M COMING ELIZABETH" Josh Giddey half court game winner

A newer clip but just an iconic clip. Number one before the call I mean this shot was unbelievable, what a game winner(even though this ended up screwing us out of Cooper Flagg but that's okay). And "I'm coming Elizabeth" an iconic quote from the TV series Sanford and Son, it made this so much better. Hearing him just absolutely lose his mind is too damn funny.
#2: "LET ME STEP BACK AND KISS MYSELF. BIG TIME PLAYERS MAKE BIG TIME PLAYS. JIMMY G BUCKETS" Jimmy Butler game winner 2016 Vs Nets.
I was actually at this game back in the day and it was electric in there, but getting home and watching the replay of this on my iPhone 5 I think lol was so awesome. Two of my favorite catchphrases from him and also my favorite nickname he had. "Jimmy G Buckets, the G stands for gets." I still to this day watching any sport will use Big Time Players make Big Time plays, such an iconic quote.
#1: The only way to end this list. "Drive Home Safely Chicago, BEEP BEEP!"
This one isn't about the specific moment, it's about the quote. Probably his most iconic of the bunch and what he said after every single Bulls win at home as the clock ran out. Whenever the Bulls win you will see Twitter, all of the Bulls comment sections, everything filled with Drive Home Safely Chicago!!! Nobody was happier than Stacey king after a Bulls win and this was just the cherry on top.
Honorable Mentions of his best quotes every Bulls fan knows and loves:
"No soup for you"
"Nationwide is on your side"
"Does anybody know how to post videos to FaceBook???"
"It's a simple game"
"MVP time!"
"Too big, too fast, too strong"
And lastly, one of my favorite and funniest moments of his:

I can't believe how much shit him and Adam Amin got for this. Before they got cancelled by the entire internet they already bought the guy a brand new Michael Jordan jersey but just wanted to have some fun. "Buy one get two free" kills me every single time I hear it, it's just too damn good.
Stacey will forever be an icon of Chicago Bulls basketball, this definitely got me a bit going back and looking at all of these amazing moments but it wasn't even just about the big moments with him. It was the third quarters when the Bulls were getting blown out so instead he goes on to tell some funny stories, it was just the joy of the guy. Give him the statue right outside the UC that he 100% deserves and long live the legend of Stacey King. Drive home Safely Stacey, Beep Beep.
