I've officially become a full on Parrothead and realized Jimmy Buffett lived one of the best lives of all time

Growing up my parents used to play a decent amount of Jimmy Buffett and actually go to see him in concert whenever he was in Chicago or close by. I personally liked his main stream songs but never took a deep dive into his full discography. I loved Margaritaville, It's Five O'Clock Somewhere, Come Monday etc… But over the past two weeks in a mood absolutely feigning for Chicago summer to get here I decided to do a deep dive into his music, and holy shit am I impressed!

His discography is kind of split, you're either getting one of two things with every song.

On one hand, it will be an absolute party anthem or the most relaxing song you've ever heard…… Or you could tell this guy was piss drunk on the beach writing this and it's just terrible. Yes legitimately his whole genre of music is having some drinks on the beach with no worries at all but sometimes it's a bit TOO much. But once you begin to make your way through and find the good stuff, your playlist feels like it got a full makeover.

Anytime I chuck him on any feelings of anxiety, sadness, or stress all disappear. It just makes me daydream of a world being at a beach bar all day enjoying the sun and crushing some frozen drinks, which was literally just his entire life. I seriously believe he lived one of the greatest lives on earth, as he slowly built his way up in the music scene.

And once he got his money? Yeah he did a tour or 2 a year but outside of that he would be on the ocean 24/7. There's a story behind the song Boat Drinks that he actually ended up doing that. He was in Boston I believe at a bar and it was cold and snowing outside, just said fuck it on a limb and booked a flight as south he could go with zero plans, zero luggage, just cause he was sick of it.

I really thought at first that it was just gimmicky music that is fun to listen to every once in a blue moon on a summer night, but the time to listen to Jimmy is during those hard winter months. Which is exactly why he was forced to tour heavily in the midwest/east coast because he was beloved up here for helping get through the hard winters.

And on top of all this? The guy built himself a massive empire of restaurants, hotels, even fucking cruises. I've seen videos of the "Margaritaville" cruise ship but it looks kinda shitty but having a Cheeseburger in paradise and a perfect margarita on the water going to the Caribbean? I'm all in.

This entire summer I will be officially Jimmy Buffett maxxing and it will make this the greatest summer of all time. Almost there, cheers.
