Chipotles CEO says that "You will never be told no to extra portions" Maybe the most out of touch comment of the year?
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Chipotle. A staple "fast food" restaurant of mine and always in the rotation since I was young (do you count it as fast food though? It is but it isn't at the same time I feel like). I probably go there at least three times a month, especially when they have BOGO. And for years I have seen everybody complain and complain about the portion sizes but I always felt like I got dealt a good hand..... until this year.
For some reason since 2026 started, every single time I have gone to Chipotle the bowls have gotten smaller and smaller. And honestly, the CEO isn't lying! They won't tell you no! But if you ask for more, the workers will give you a death stare like you just killed their entire family and give you the smallest scoop of "extra" you've ever seen in your life. I do understand being stingy about extra protein because that is an extra cost.
I just can't believe the downfall of Chipotle- it used to be the absolute place to go especially before COVID. Before COVID you would go in there, your burrito/bowl is $10, and that shit was big enough to be two meals. But now the prices are raised even more and they skimp on the portions? I know the economy and inflation is all over the place but you can either raise the prices or skimp on the portions, NOT both.
It sounds so dumb to complain about this but it's the truth at the end of the day and just completely sucks to see one of the great restaurant chains in our country fall off an absolute cliff. And I haven't even brought up yet how no matter what time you go there, they are always out of something. A few weeks ago I went and they ran out of tortillas…. How are you a mexican cuisine fast food restaurant and run out of TORTILLAS??????
The fall from grace is horrible. Figure this shit out and get back on top.
