Not Only Is Bill Polian The Most Petty Little Bitch Of All Time, He's Also A Lying Coward. Now Claims "He Can’t Recall With 100% Certainty Whether He Voted For Belichick Or Not" To Get Into The Hall of Fame
NBC Sports - Former Bill Belichick nemesis Bill Polian voted for Belichick to make it to the Hall of Fame. Unless he didn’t.
After telling Matt Verderame of SI.com that the Hall of Fame G.M. and Hall of Fame voter cast a ballot for Belichick, Polian tells ESPN.com that he doesn’t remember “with 100 percent certainty” whether he voted for Belichick. Polian said he was “95 percent sure” he voted for Belichick.
All due respect, how could anyone forget such a significant vote? It sounds like a safe harbor for Polian, in the event the Hall of Fame decides to release the votes (they should) or someone who knows the contents of Polian’s ballots tells someone like Pablo Torre that, no, Polian didn’t vote for Belichick.
Beyond Polian’s vote, he denied telling other voters that Belichick should wait a year, due to the original Spygate scandal. Polian told ESPN.com that he heard a couple of other voters “float that idea,” but that Polian neither agreed nor disagreed with that idea.
“I was shocked to learn Bill didn’t get in,” Polian said. “He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.”
If that’s the case, how does Polian not recall with 100 percent certainty that he voted for Belichick?
That right there is the softest, slipperiest, most cowardly little escape hatch I’ve heard from a guy who somehow owns a golden jacket.
Our hero Jerry Thornton piled on Polian earlier.
But Wheel of Fortune was just about over, and it was time for evening meds and bed time at Shady Acres, so he missed this late night gem of an attempted backtrack from Polian.
Before I get into my takedown of the wart-on-the-ass of Patriots fans, that just will not go away or leave us alone- Bill Polian, take a look at how Mike Sando broke down the voting process.
Seems pretty cut and dry no?
Especially for a dinosaur like Bill Polian, who's managed to insert himself into pretty much everything he can that's NFL-related, especially when it pertains to anything having to do with the New England Patriots.
So please forgive me while my brain tries to climb out of my skull to get away from the stupidity.

You are one of the 50 people in the room. This is the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection process, not picking toppings at Papa Gino's. The whole point is that your vote matters, and it’s supposed to mean something.
So when Polian goes, “I’m 95 percent sure,” that’s not being cute. And it’s not “aw shucks, sorry guys I’m getting old.”
That’s “I wanted all the authority and none of the heat.” It’s straight out of the politician’s classic moves playbook, except this isn’t Capitol Hill. This is Canton we're talking about. Aka football immortality.
Matt Verderame wasn't asking Polian what his AOL password was. He asking him if he voted for the most accomplished coach of the modern era, the guy whose résumé is basically a six-ring brass knuckle.
Bill Polian isn’t some random stooge who wandered into the room because he won a raffle. He’s a longtime NFL executive- granted, a piss-poor one, is somehow a Hall of Famer himself, and he’s been at the center of major controversies himself over his career. He’s not new to big decisions, big consequences, big egos.
Let's review his greatest hits shall we?
- Polian said Lamar Jackson should have switched to WR if he wanted to make it in the NFL
- Polian said the Browns needed to trade up to draft Johnny Manizel and compared his game to "Jim Kelly".

- The Bears hired Polian to come in and help Justin Fields. He insisted they hire Matt fucking Eberflus
- Polian oversaw the Colts teams that famously piped in fake crowd noise into the their stadium on blast
- Polian called Tyrann Mathieu "undraftable". There's a possibility Mathieu winds up in the HOF himself.
- The sanctimonious Polian couldn't wait to pontificate and demean the Patriots for drafting Aaron Hernandez, claiming he "took Hernandez off of his draft board for character issues". Which, to his credit, deserves applause. He apparently learned his lesson after drafting Rae Carruth and Marvin Harrison.

- Master of hindsight Polian famously claimed he had Tom Brady "graded as a 1st round pick" but that he passed on drafting him because "he didn't fit into their system." Lol.
-
- Was in the front office of five teams that made the Super Bowl, yet only won one, even with generational QB Peyton Manning in Indianapolis.
- Polian's Colts team hung this pathetic banner that now hangs in the Barstool Chicago office -
- As Jerry so eloquently pointed out, after losing to a Belichick lead team yet again, Polian weasled his way into the NFL Rules Commitee, and lobbied to have playing real, actual defense against wide-receivers, taken out of the game. Something we can all collectively give a giant "fuck you" to him for.

- And perhaps most egregiously, Polian ALLEGEDLY spearheaded tanking the chances of the late Jim Tyrer from getting in the Hall of Fame as a way for the league to avoid having to discuss any mention of CTE associated with Tyrer's passing via murder-suicide linked to CTE.
In case you're not connecting the dots here for youself, allow me to shine a giant spotlight on the page for you that just might help illustrate for you why this feeble man has so much resentment and jealousy of Belichick.

You know how when Clarence comes down from heaven to show George Bailey how different the world would be had he never been born in It's A Wonderful Life? Well relatively speaking, how many championship rings does Bill Polian have if Bill Belichick was never born? 6? 8?
In some alternate timeline in the multiverse, are we talking about Bill Polian like we are Belichick?
I digress…
The “can’t remember” routine stinks Bill. It’s not confusion. It’s tucking tail.
It’s the verbal version of putting your hands in your pockets and whistling while the building burns down. “Wow, crazy this happened. Anyway, nothing to see here.”
And jumping off the pile for a second, Polian doesn't deserve all of the blame. According to reports, Belichick needed 40 of 50 votes, and he didn’t get them.
That’s not an “oopsie daisy.” This was a coordinated decision by a chunk of fucking losers on the committee, with axes to grind, who saw a chance to play hall monitor with history. And naturally, the reaction was instant because the optics are insane- the greatest coach of all time, not first ballot, because some guys can’t separate achievement from personal vendettas.
Remind you of anybody?
This entire system is fucked up and needs to be blown up and rebuilt. When a process is anonymous, it invites cowardice. It invites “sources” and allows guys to throw stones and then hide behind the curtains like they’re in a middle school play.
That's how you get an anonymous source outing Polian today for leading teh charge against Belichik, playing the holier-than-thou sentencing judge. That's how this little weasel, instead of being direct, drops the ultimate non-answer.
If you voted for him, then fucking say you voted for him.
If you didn’t, say you didn’t. Own it. Be a man. That’s the job.
If you’re going to be a gatekeeper of football heaven, you don’t get to play the “I can’t recall” card. That’s a cop-out and the epitome of weakness.
That’s the kind of energy you bring when you want the title but not the responsibility.

Say it with your chest, Bill. You fucking pussy.
At least then we would have no choice but than to respect your pettiness and villainy. Because right now, what you’re communicating with the “Umm, I’m unsure” bullshit, actually equates to “I’m scared of what happens if I’m sure.” And if that’s where we’re at, then why should anyone trust this joke of a process? Like Jerry wrote last night, if Belichick doesn't deserve to be in the Hall, then who the fuck does?
When you’re a person of stature in the sport, you don’t get to dodge basic accountability like it’s a parking ticket. If you’re going to help decide who becomes immortal, you should be able to stand behind your vote without squirming, hedging, or hiding in “95 percent.”
This all feels like Polian underestimated how bad this was going to blow up in his face, and he's regretting it big time. Or maybe I'm giving him too much credit. Either way, it's embarrassing.
But here's the silver lining Pats fans. If this team needed an edge, or a reason to stop listening to the "we're playing with house money" talk, heading into the Super Bowl next weekend, they just got a spark.
This was a shot across the New England bow that the Patriots are still the gold standard. And since other organizations can't beat them on the field, they'll take their wins however they can get them. Pathetic as that may be.
PFT nailed it -
(Sidebar - so the NFL has Belichick's playbook from Super Bowl 25 displayed in their Hall Of Fame, and has for a a quarter century now, before he won SEVEN MORE, but will have no Bill until next year? Lol ok guys.)

I'm going to end with this.
Not only is Bill Belichick the greatest coach of all time. The entire sport of football is indebted to him forever, in ways they will never ever be able to repay, for the way he advanced the game, and forced everybody to adapt and get better.
Belichick made matchup-specific football fashionable. Taking away the other team's best player became "a thing" because of him.
Belichick also made defenses becoming a moving target, and not systems, a thing. One week it was heavy fronts and bully ball. The next it was nickel as base, speed everywhere, dime packages, or safeties playing linebacker roles. He normalized the idea that your personnel and weekly opponent dictate your identity, not your playbook ego. Kinda like what we're seeing his student Vrabel doing with the team now…
The guy emphasized and showcased the importance of special teams. Most teams treat special teams like the boring part of the game you had to sit through to get back to offense. Belichick treated it like an edge to steal games.
He revolutionized the tight-end position. The league’s always loved the outside speed, but those Patriots offenses helped re-glorify the idea that you can kill people with the middle of the field, option routes, double tight end sets, backs in space, and that “take what you give me” precision. All credit to BB.
He reminded people of rules they didn't even know existed -
He's also owed credit for making the overall game more exciting by making extra points matter again. He didn’t just propose the rule that was eventually passed to move the extra point back from the 2 yard line to the 15, he raised the uprights because refs couldn’t tell if a kick was good unless it hit a satellite.
And last but certaoinly not least, there's a very good chance that had he not had the foresight and confidence to draft TB12 with the 199th pick in the 2000 draft, the world misses out on the greatest quarterback of all time.
I'll just leave this here-

P.s. - the entire “anonymity” thing when it comes to voting for Halls of Fame - in all sports- needs to go. It’s a cowards rule invented by cowards to protect cowards. If you feel a certain way about somebody else’s accomplishments, than you should have the balls to say why you think the way you do when you’re called on it. It’s called accountability. Same goes for these pussies who talk to Schefter about exposing the people hiding… while hiding behind anonymity…
P.P.S. - I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there's a connection here…

people forget Father Dungy went on the record with this -
P. p.s. - love this idea. let's smoke em out.
