Report: Bill Polian Sabotaged Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame Candidacy in the Pettiest Act of Vindictiveness in Human History

You think it's easy being a Barstool content creator? Well you'd better think again.

Here I was, after a full day of covering the best Boston sports news since the Celtics won Banner 18, and decided I'd earned a trip to the gym. When in the middle of sculpting my guns and listening to a podcast about how the ancient Romans disseminated news and information to the public (yes, my life is an adrenaline factory) I gazed up at the bank of TVs to learn Bill Belichick was being denied induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

Immediately, I slid down the dinosaur's tail into the Flintstonemobile and Yabba Dabba Doo'ed home to respond to this. Only to hop on X and find out who the sinister mastermind behind this grotesque injustice is:

Well, well, well. If it isn't our old nemesis. We meet again, Bill (Na)Polian.

First of all, how is this tiny, insignificant, conniving little worm still alive? He was like 90 in 2003 when the Patriots' defense annihilated his Colts in the playoffs. In that game, Ty Law caught as many passes from Peyton Manning (3) as Marvin Harrison. And had more return yards than Harrison. So Polian used his position on the Rules Committee to outlaw defense.  And the next year, the Colts came to Gillette yet again and were held to a field goal. In the immortal words of Tedy Bruschi, "You wanna change the rules? Change 'em! We win anyway!" And yet here he's still at his old tricks. He must have the lifespan of a Galapagos Tortoise, and he's going to spend all the years left his his cold heart getting back at Bill Belichick any way he can.

As the old Klingon proverb says, revenge truly IS a dish best served cold. Because here (Na)Polian is again, grabassing his cronies, twisting arms, calling in favors, all to get back at a man who is his superior in every way. He couldn't beat Belichick in the field, so he's spent 22 years trying to beat him in the halls of power. There's no dignity in it. There's no honor. There's only shame mixed with whatever petty satisfaction he can.

Simply put: If Bill Belichick isn't worthy of being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot, then he Pro Football Hall of Fame is not worth being in. Period. Not if you have respect for the history of the game. This is the kind of thing that should inspire other inductees to renounce their membership. The way people were knighted by the Queen turned in their titles because she also knighted like The Beatles or whomever. (I'll die before I hate on The Beatles. But if I got honored for taking out a German pillbox on D-Day or curing a disease or something, only to suddenly find myself with the same award they gave Ringo for singing lead on "Octopuses Garden," I'd be a little miffed too.) He's not worthy of first ballot induction? Wrong. Canton isn't worthy of him.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. Except that ever since I got this news I've been going full Dennis Reynolds. "I shall unleash my fury upon you like the crashing of a THOUSAND waves! I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!"
