Straight to Jail: Two Media Members Picked Vanderbilt To Win the SEC. In Football.

Here we go again. A couple of pranksters used the SEC preseason media poll to vote for Vanderbilt to win the league. I suppose just two is an improvement over last year's five, but somebody needs to put a stop to this.

I'm all for anyone voting how they truly feel things are going to play out. If you think Ole Miss or Missouri will find a way to get to the SEC Championship Game and win it, by all means reflect that in your vote. But if you pick a team with a win total of 2.5 to win the best conference in college football, you should have your voting rights stripped not just for SEC media events, but all elections in this country. You can't be trusted to make a real decision.

What's the point of doing this, anyway? To text your buddies a screenshot of your vote and show off the fact that you were an asshole making a mockery of the whole process? Maybe they credentialed 13-year-olds at SEC Media Days this year.

If there's any good to come of this buffoonery, there will absolutely be coaches in the SEC this year that have this poll pinned on a white board the week they're playing Vanderbilt. The Dores avoid Georgia this year, so unfortuntely Kirby Smart won't be able to make a show of it — unless they meet in the SEC Championship Game.
