Siskel And Ebert's Old Review Of "Home Alone 3" Is Going Viral And It's Absolutely Hilarious

We overuse the term GOAT, but Siskel and Ebert were the GOATs of film criticism. It might sound weird now, but there was a point at which people didn't realize that guys would just sit down in a room for hours on end and debate film. They really were trailblazers. I miss them dearly. If they were both still around, they would have one of the best movie podcasts in the world. I think it's great that so many of their old episodes are available online. It was always great when these two bash the movie together. Their review for "North" is notorious for being one of the all-time teardowns of any movie.

The only thing funnier than when they agreed on something that was terrible was when they disagreed. I'm glad that their old review of "Home Alone 3" is going viral. It's easily one of their funniest reviews. It might sound a bit bizarre, but these two loved each other so much that there were moments in which we weren't sure if they even liked each other at all. That might sound contradictory, but their chemistry was just so good that they knew they could fuck with each other as much as possible. I always viewed Siskel as the more cynical of the two, but his disgust at Ebert's review is hilarious. The way he shakes his head and rolls his eyes after Ebert says he enjoyed this one more than the first two home alone movies is a display of otherworldly contempt.

I'm not going to claim to have seen every movie that these guys reviewed, but it did seem like Ebert had a tendency to give children's entertainment a pass sometimes. While he didn't enjoy it, he defended the original "Goodburger" more than most, and he famously enjoyed the Burt Reynolds stinker "Cop and a Half" much to Siskel's disdain.

It's funny because years later, after seeing the film "Broken Arrow," Siskel would bring up this review and beg Ebert to change his opinion. They would hold grudges against each other for years based on their opinions of a movie. It was always entertaining. If you have time during the holidays, I recommend going down to YouTube rabbit hole of Siskel and Ebert reviews. I love that their legacy lives on in the modern age.
