The Kai Jones Situation In Charlotte Gets Even Weirder After He Publicly Demands A Trade On Twitter

It's been a rather peculiar offseason for the young Hornets' big man Kai Jones. He's spent his time this offseason taking shots at his own teammates

Releasing new music

Dancing on his timeline

And going on interesting rants on IG live

which ultimately led to the Hornets deciding at the end of September that Jones was going to be away from the team indefinitely with no timeline for his return

Well, just about a week later that whole rant about not being traded by the Hornets didn't exactly age well because as of today he's decided to publicly request a trade out of CHA via Twitter

Obviously, with how erratic he's been this offseason, you hope everything is OK mentally and he's getting whatever type of help he may need. It all just seemed so out of left field and given how the Hornets have acted, it tells you something has to be going on. For him to then demand a trade, I mean who knows if that's even real?

Let's say it is real. How confident would you be as another team to give up tangible assets to trade for Kai Jones? He's still very young and extremely raw as a big man, but there are flashes

There was also that time he put Wembanyama on a poster earlier this summer out in Vegas which was cool

In terms of his contract, he has $3M guaranteed this year and then a team option for $4.6M next year, so maybe there's a team out there that will throw a 2nd round pick or something at the Hornets to see if all he needs is a change of scenery? At the same time, teams don't really just tell a young intriguing prospect to stay away from the team if nothing is going on, so maybe it's not worth the trouble.

The real kicker in all this is that single tweet could end up costing Jones $150K due to CBA rules about demanding trades

The whole situation has been bizarre to watch unfold, and something tells me this is only the beginning.
