Last Night Was A Perfect Example Of Why I Am Almost Always Anti-Tank

Last night was incredible. I've lived in Southport for like 16 months or so now and last night was the first time there was a genuine buzz in the neighborhood post game. You would've thought the Cubs won the NLCS or something the way people were reacting. I could literally hear people singing Go Cubs Go walking back to their cars or homes, they were laughing, cheering, honking horns. The vibes were through the roof. Moments like that are why you become a fan. That is what hooks you. The emotion. The dramatics. The tension that comes from a season that feels like it is on a knife's edge. Moments like that don't come around very often and you need to strive for them and appreciate them when they happen.

That was my whole point around the deadline when I didn't want to sell. Eddie tried to say that I just wanted to "have margaritas at Big Star". Wildly insulting. I've watched this team all year. I set a PR for hot dogs consumed in a season at Wrigley Field, not to brag. This is a lovable team that competes and does all the little things right. It's a team with a core group in tact with Swanson, Hoerner, Happ, Seiya, etc. They're building something. They're building a culture. To tear that group apart is detrimental to the team and the fans. I am glad the Cubs are going for it. Where it ends up...who the fuck knows. HUGE stretch here in the next games against the bottom feeders before Milwaukee comes to town. Last night was a sling shot game. The type of game that can carry you for a week during the dog days of summer. The Cubs needed a game like that. If wanting to risk some prospect that they might've gotten back for Bellinger is wrong then I don't want to be right. Try to win while the wins are there to be had.
