MESSI TO AMERICA! The GOAT Is Apparently Signing The Biggest Contract In MLS History Next Summer To Play In Miami

Lionel Messi is taking the path that many other retirees have done before him...relocating to Miami. Sun shine, low taxes, and life of luxury as aging people enjoy the warm weather and "stay active". The MLS is getting better all the time, but they're still in the place where they need to throw a bag at big names in order to make headlines. Messi is at a different level than even Bale or Beckham though. He's 35 but Messi is still an impact guy if you're watching Argentina in the World Cup.

I am very curious about what it means to be the highest paid player in MLS history actually means. Lorenzo Insigne basically doubled the previous high salary last year when he signed with Toronto FC for $14M. Google says that Messi is making $41M this year with PSG. Maybe he wouldn't get that $41M on the open market in Europe again, but I feel like there's probably a club somewhere that'd give him $25M. Beckham reportedly made $250M during his time with LA, but that was mostly sponsorship deals.

Either way, pretty cool to have the greatest to ever do it in America next year. If I remember I might even go check it out. The MLS should really double down and go get Ronaldo while they're at it. Make him play for Orlando and just have them battle it out like the Morty Seinfeld and Frank Costanza in Del Boca Vista
