Zach Wilson's Mom Trolls the Online Trolls Because She is a National Treasure

I think I can honestly say, without fear of contradiction, that I take a back seat to no man when it comes to my admiration for Zach Wilson's mom, Lisa Neeleman Wilson. Whether this firebrand is railing against Disney and Snapchat "whores" or saying she refused her son's offer money to get off Instagram, denying she has an OnlyFans account, being the influencer who promotes a myriad of personal consumer products, or simply saying she looks like a "crack whore":

... there is just something about this fun, fierce, fearless, football family woman that speaks to me.

Which is why I was unhappy to check in with her this week, only to find she's been introduced to life as the woman who raised a New York Jets quarterback. Unless you were Mrs. Namath in 1970, fate has never been kind to these proud women. Unfortunately, one game into her pride and joy's career, she can now relate.

Source - Football fans aren't just trollin' Zach Wilson after his week 1 loss as starting QB for the NY Jets -- they're goin' after his momma, too!

Wilson's mom, Lisa, shared some of the DMs she received on Instagram after her son's 19-14 loss against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

FYI, the rookie QB had 258 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and one interception -- but was sacked 6 TIMES!

One of the messages Lisa got was from a guy named Chase saying, "Your son is a" -- and she responded, "Praying for your angry hateful heart!"

The "fan" didn't stop there -- he hit her back with, "praying for your son to get better at fking football!"

Lisa shared another one … a fan named Austin saying, "real talk tho, y ur son so dog sh** at football."

Hate is toxic. And no family member, least of all a loving mother, deserves this sort of trolling. Not that I'm white-knighting her. Lisa Wilson needs me to come to her defense as much as Diana, Princess of Themyscira needs to be rescued by me. I just want it to be known how uncalled for this is.

As much as I look forward to Zach Wilson being the second best rookie quarterback on the field Sunday, and to root against him twice a year for many years to come, I still consider myself an ally as she fights against this hateful, uncalled for online rhetoric. It's untoward. It is not toward. And these whimpering cowards DMing her this stuff do not know what they're getting themselves into. Lisa will fight back with kindness and prayers. But there is a mother bear behind that megawatt smile and under that perfect cheerleader hair:

And I just want, to the extent I have any sway over Patriots fans, to urge you all not to engage in any such hate speech. Leave that to the Jets fans and their hatred toward their own team after generations of frustration. This woman is a national treasure. And if I have anything to say about it, she'll be left to focus on more great content and epic rants.

Godspeed, Mrs. Wilson. Queen of all sports moms. Long may you reign.
