Week 1 is in the books, and my first week's picks left much to be desired. I posted a record of 7-9, making a strong comeback in the late games after making some horrendous picks in the games played on Sunday at 1.
TB -9 (o/u 51.5)
My Pick Buccaneers 27 Cowboys 10
ScoreBuccaneers 31 Cowboys 29
We learned that Dak Prescott has recovered from his broken leg, and the Cowboys have a strong offense. However, the Cowboys learned not to leave too much time for Tom Brady to get down the field for a winning field goal.
Sunday at 1
Atl -3.5 (o/u 48.5)
My Pick Falcons 24 Eagles 16
Score Eagles 32 Falcons 6
The Falcons are terrible, and Matty Ice has become Matty Dumpster Fire as the former MVP's early red-zone struggles set the tone for the game.
Buf -6.5 (o/u 48.5)
My Pick Bills 23 Steelers 13
Score Steelers 23 Bills 16
The Bills were in control early, but the Steelers' defense is the real deal as they kept the team in the game. Eventually, the Bills' defense tired, allowing Pittsburgh to awaken and win the game.
Car -4.5 (o/u 44)
My Pick Panthers 38 Jets 11
Score Panthers 19 Jets 14
Zach Wilson may be a good quarterback, but the Jets do not have anyone around him that can play. The Panthers are a flawed team that will not win that many games.
Min -3 (o/u 47.5)
My Pick Vikings 23 Bengals 17
Score Bengals 27 Vikings 24 (OT)
Joe Burrow is a winner, whom the Bengals could destroy, as he got Cincinnati an overtime win. Kirk Cousins is terrible, and the Vikings are in trouble.
Det +8 ( o/u 45)
My Pick Lions 27 49ers 25
Score 49ers 41 Lions 33
The 49ers looked strong as Trey Lance had a touchdown on his first NFL throw. However, the Lions did not quit and nearly made things interesting as San Francisco was sloppy late for the backdoor cover.
Jax -3.5 (o/u 45)
My Pick Jaguars 27 Texans 10
Score Texans 37 Jaguars 21
So much for the Texans going 0-17, as the Jaguars losing streak is now 16, having gone 1-15 after a win in Week 1, as Trevor Lawrence looked shaky in his NFL debut.
Sea -3 (o/u 50)
My Pick Seahawks 37 Colts 27
Score Seahawks 28 Colts 16
I nailed this one as the Colts continued their feeble ways in Week 1. The Seahawks continued to be the Seahawks, with Russell Wilson have a strong start.
Ten -3 (o/u 52.5)
My Pick Titans 30 Cardinals 17
Score Cardinals 38 Titans 13
No team was more impressive this week than the Cardinals, as the Titans looked slow and old.
Was -1 (o/u 44.5)
My Pick Washington 20 Chargers 17
Score Chargers 20 Washington 16
I expected a close game, and it was. Everything changed for Washington when Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game with a hip injury. Now the Football Team needs Taylor Heinicke can carry them for the next two months.
Sunday Late Afternoon
Cle +5 (o/u 54.5)
My PIck Chiefs 37 Browns 34
Score Chiefs 33 Browns 29
The game went as expected as the Browns were strong but could not put Kansas City away, allowing Patrick Mahomes to lead the Chiefs to a close win in their playoff rematch.
Mia +3.5 (o/u 43.5)
My Pick Dolphins 19 Patriots 17
Score Dolphins 17 Patriots 16
Nailed it, as the Patriots got a good game from Mac Jones, but the Dolphins stole the game with strong coaching and a defense that did not break and forced two turnovers.
NO +4 ( o/u 49.5)
My Pick Saints 41 Packers 30
Score Saints 38 Packers 3
Jameis Winston looks like a new man, as he had five touchdowns and looks prepared for a big season. Aaron Rodgers looked disinterested as the Packers did not show up in Jacksonville.
NYG +3 (o/u 41.5)
My Pick Giants 27 Broncos 17
Score Broncos 27 Giants 13
Daniel Jones is awful, and the Giants will not succeed until they learn what the rest of us learned two years ago. The Broncos' defense is strong, and they could make hay if they were not in an impossible division.
LAR -7.5 (o/u 47)
My Pick Rams 41 Bears 13
Score Rams 34 Bears 13
The Rams are poised for a good season; the Bears are not. I watched at the same time as the Mets, I may have been tired, but Matt Nagy began to morph into Luis Rojas and vise versa.
My Pick Ravens 27 Raiders 17
Score Raiders 33 Ravens 27 (OT)
The Ravens' secondary to a hit on Thursday with Marcus Peters tearing his ACL. They could have used him in the final minute as the Raiders gashed them to force overtime and did the same in overtime to win the game.
