Rajon Rondo Is Calling Out All Of The Mavericks Plays And The Clippers Still Can't Win

I will forever love Rajon Rondo. That is a promise you can take to the bank. The best pure point guard I've ever seen with my own eyes play for my favorite team, everything in 2008, Playoff Rondo, he's the greatest. We don't have to talk about what happened last year, don't be mean. But I love this story for a few reasons. First, it's a classic Rondo move. He's been doing that shit for as long as I can remember, with basically every team he's played for. Basketball IQ like you read about.

Then you realize that even despite knowing all their plays, the Clippers still haven't been able to beat the Mavericks so far this series. That's fantastic. It would be one thing if the Mavs were doing things the Clippers had never seen before and had a hard time adjusting. Nope, Rondo knows what's coming, he's telling everyone what's coming and they still can't stop it. Then again, when 99.9% of your offense seems to be

"Just give Luka the ball and let him do whatever"

I can understand how that might be difficult to stop.

Which brings me to the topic of tonight's all important Game 3. As we saw last night in the MIL/MIA series, the Mavs have a chance to effectively end the Clippers season tonight. You all saw how that went for the Heat last night right?

Giphy Images.

You should know the numbers by now. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit. 140-0. The Clippers as a franchise and shit, maybe even the entire landscape of the NBA could be drastically changed by what happens tonight. Let's say Kawhi says fuck this shit and hits the market. What if they blow up the duo and move George. It's all on the table if the Clippers get swept or even lose in 5.

I do find it interesting that both the Bucks and the Clippers were presented with the same opportunity to end the season. They both could have tanked to close out the year to maybe give themselves an easier playoff path. The Bucks decided against it, welcomed the challenge of playing the Heat and now they are about to sweep. The Clippers chose to be cowards and avoid LeBron, lost on purpose, and now they are the ones on the verge of being swept. That's some poetic justice right there.

It does make me sad that Rondo's postseason run is most likely about to be pretty quick. There's nothing like Playoff Rondo. He turns into the best player on the planet. Even in this series in just 20 minutes a night he's still putting up 7.5/3.0/5.5 on 55/75% splits with 1.5 3PM a night. That's a Per36 of 12.6/5.0/9.2. Sadly though, whether it's his play or the fact that he's calling out every play before it happens, none of it seems to matter. The Mavs can bury this team tonight, get their revenge from last year and set their sights on a date with what's looking like the Jazz.

If you thought the slander towards the Clippers was bad last year after blowing a 3-1 lead, how do we think it'll go if they get swept in the first round by a lower seed? Paul George and Kawhi probably should just stay off Twitter for a few months.
