We Now Have Definitive Evidence That Major League Baseball Is Rigged
I truly can't believe what I witnessed at the end of Sunday Night Baseball. I thought the worst call I had ever seen in my life was Sam Holbrook's infamous "infield fly" call in the 2012 Wild Card Game — of course the Braves were the first team to get screwed by the extra Postseason round — but calling Alec Bohm safe after reviewing that surpasses that by a country mile.
I really don't even know what to say about it that isn't made abundantly clear from just watching it with your own eyes. It is clear as day from every angle that he is tagged and doesn't come close to touching home plate. It's certifiably insane.
Replay in every sport gets stuff wrong, but Major League Baseball makes it an art form. And I truly believe it comes from the self-congratulatory umpires who don't want to change calls in some sort of attempt to protect the "brotherhood" they think they've formed. So if that's the case, let's just get rid of it. If all we're doing is creating situations like this where I won't be able to sleep tonight because these assholes decided to fuck me over, then just nix the whole system.
I can live with a mistake made in real-time, however much it may suck. But what I can't live with is having that play reviewed and having Bohm called safe. That's an unfathomable level of bullshit.
And things like this get looked over in the ninth game of a 162-game season, but the NL East may very well come down to one game. And again, I can live with losing the division based on the merits of another team or the Braves' shortcomings. But to have a game so blatantly stolen is just unfathomable.
But then again, it's really not that unfathomable, because an umpire gave a win to the Mets the other day and nothing was done about that, either. I really don't know how this problem ever gets fixed. The umpiring in Major League Baseball is a scourge on our society and we need to do something about it.
HOW IN THE HELL WAS HE CALLED SAFE?!?! I'm so mad online.
