10 Dark Comedies You Can Stream Right Now

Welcome to a brand new year series of streaming blogs! I'm going to go through the most popular platforms and picks out some of the best or under-sung movies I can find in each genre. First up is Dark Comedies:

#1: Death of Stalin (97/100) This movie, which comes from the brain behind VEEP, is one of the best comedies of the past few years and has not nearly enough eyeballs on it. If you're a fan of history, humor, or satire in general you will love this. Steve Buscemi as Nikita Khrushchev is one of the funniest performances I've ever seen. And Jason Isaacs may be even better (NETFLIX)

#2 Shaun of the Dead (95/100): I count zombie-comedy under the dark comedy umbrella, and so does IMDB. Shaun of the Dead is one of the most effortless comedy movies I have ever seen in my life. It's a quick and easy script that is infinitely quotable and always worth a watch. (HBO MAX)

#3 Uncle Frank (83/100): This movie is wickedly sharp and also just a great story. It's also new! Imagine that. (PRIME VIDEO)

#4 Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love the Bomb (90/100): One of the all-time classic movies that deserves a watch from everyone at least once in their life. It was way ahead of it's time and holds up extremely well in my opinion.  (PRIME VIDEO)

#5. Zombieland (87/100): Just like with 'Shaun of the Dead', Zombieland falls under this umbrella. It's not quite as good as that movie, but still very fun and very unique among the insanely packed over-genre of zombie movies. (PEACOCK)

#6. The Art of Self Defense (88/100): Another 2x LCB interviewee Jesse Eisenberg movie, this one really blew away all my expectations. It's fucking dark but it is very funny and a great indie ride. (HULU)

#7. Villains (83/100): Another small production, I also think this movie deserves more eyes. Maybe mostly because I fucking love Jeffrey Donovan.  (HULU)

#8. Sorry to Bother You (91/100):  I feel confident recommending this movie, but it's not for everyone. However, it has one of the funnier concepts and craziest endings you will ever see.  (HULU)

#9 Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot (80/100): This is definitely more on the dark side than anything else, but it is actually a pretty inspiring true story. Also an amazing Joaquin Phoenix role.  (PRIME VIDEO)

#10. Seven Psychopaths (79/100): This movie is from Martin McDonagh, the mind behind 'In Bruges' and 'Three Billboards Outside, Ebbing, Missouri'. I don't think it's as good of a complete movie as either of those, but I really enjoy it. (PRIME VIDEO)
