This Giant Dude Trying To Break The Deadlift World Record While The Crowd And Announcers Go Nuts Is A Great Moment

I’ve got a soft spot for some of these weightlifting videos because they end one of two ways: 1) Someone hilariously injuring themselves to the point of near-death or 2) Some dude accomplishing some unreal record that doesn’t even seem physically possible. In this case, it’s Eddie Hall going for the latter, an approximate 1,020 pounds being deadlifted. But more than anything the anticipation in the video is tremendous. Like what a showman Eddie Hall is for a beefy mass of man who almost definitely cannot extend his arms above his head:

Then you add in the crowd chanting “EDDIE! EDDIE!” while the announcers lose their damn minds and cheer him on while he soaks up every second strapping into the bar and lining up his grip just so. Then he nails the lift and the crowd EXPLODES and he shows off some more and talks shit to no one in particular while holding up half a ton:

Unreal moment all around. As much as I love it too, you’re telling me we can give Battlebots another show but can’t give me a “Dudes Lifting Heavy Shit In Front Of WWE Crowds” a shot on somewhere besides ESPN2 at 1am? Figure it out TV producers, Eddie Hall is a goddamned star.
