Jimmy Butler Finalizing 5 Year Max Deal With The Bulls

Couple of quick thoughts.

1. Congrats to Jimmy – It’s rare that a player signs for max money and you are genuinely happy for them but I am genuinely happy for Jimmy Butler. His story is an incredible one and to bet on yourself last summer only to see the bet cash in in a HUGE way is fantastic. He is one of my favorite athletes to watch and root for. Having him in Chicago for the next 4 and possibly 5 years is fantastic news.

2. I guess all the people who thought Jimmy hated Chicago or hated Derrick Rose or hated the Front Office can crawl back under the rock they came from? Good call to all those guys.

3. The Bulls future is Jimmy and Niko, today was a big day for that. Yes Derrick Rose is part of that future if he can stay healthy but as we all know that is a big if. My expectations for Derrick Rose have been tempered. 2 years ago you were excited about the Bulls because of Jo/DRose, now it’s Jimmy/Niko, there is a lot left to do and they aren’t a Championship team right now but they’ll be competitive for the next 5 years and have a chance with the right pieces to take it to the next level. Can’t ask for more as a fan.
