In A Surprise To No One, Tennessee's 2021 Recruiting Class Is Falling Apart

Back in May during quarantine, I pointed out that Tennessee fans were celebrating their 2021 recruiting class a bit too early. National Signing Day was 100s of days away and they were making fun of a team that has had 100x the success in the past 2 decades.

Due to nothing going on, one of Tennessee's radio stations took my tweet a little too seriously. They had a few segments about me and wrote this article. All over recruiting! Gotta love the SEC.

Now, I want you to fast forward to November 30th, 2020. Yes, that's last night.

Terrence Lewis, #17 recruit in the entire country, decommitted from Tennessee. Any school losing a commit from 5-star causes a drop in the rankings, but Tennessee has been dropping far before this decommitment.

On May 8th, Tennessee ranked 2nd in 247Sports rankings for the class of 2021. Today, they rank 13th.

The sad thing is that the 13th ranking could get much, much worse. Why? Well, Tennessee has 25 current commits, the 2nd most of any team in the top 65. That doesn't leave a lot of spots left in their 2021 class to increase their overall 247Sports score, which is currently 250. A score of 250 for a recruiting class isn't awful, but Oklahoma, that same program they were making fun of, has a current score of 256 with 10 less commits than Tennessee. Their score will only go higher as they fill out the rest of their class, while Tennessee's looks like it will stay in the 250-260 range no matter what.

It's sad to see this has happened to Tennessee in such a short period of time. This was the recruiting class that was going to change everything....and it has fallen apart before NSD.
