We Need The World Juniors Now More Than Ever
USA Hockey released their preliminary roster for the 2021 World Juniors yesterday, and the calendar has just flipped over to December. Naturally I'm pretty jazzed up about it, regardless of the fact that Canada's roster is going to be LOADED even before Lafreniere gets added to the mix. But speaking of Hockey Canada, I'm also getting just a little nervous about the tourney. Because the whole Canadian team is currently in the middle of a 14-day quarantine after a couple of players tested positive.
Not great. Not great at all. But you know what? We're sticking to Positive Vibes Only right now. Because I need the World Juniors in my life this December. We need the World Juniors in our life this December. The whole damn world needs the World Juniors in our life this December.
And it's not just because my Philadelphia Eagles are an absolute disgrace and I need something to distract myself from them. But it's because there has been a little too much tummy sticks going on in the world lately for my liking.
With this pandemic, everybody is trying to act as if "we're all in this together". Like it's some sort of sequel to High School Musical or something. As if the whole world needs to come together to defeat this thing. And while that may be the case, I'm ready to start hating again. I'm ready to start having some international rivalry again. I love the people of Canada and I wish them all good health, but I also want to see Cole Caufield wreck their shit on a sheet of ice and destroy all hope of them taking home another gold medal this year. Russians are cool and everything but do I want to see Cam York absolutely dominate their asses on Christmas Day (9:30pm ET)? One hundred zillion percent.
No need for Russian Gas when you've got American Diesel.
Long story short, the world has never needed this tournament for more reasons than we do this year. We need any hockey at all to bring us back to normalcy. We need December hockey to roll us right into the NHL hopefully starting their season in January. And we need international hockey so that the world can stop playing tummy sticks with each other and we can get back to getting blackout drunk off of Patriotism. Because USA Hockey Is Do Or Die.
But yeah. I'll start pumping out some full tournament previews once we find out this thing is 100% still happening.
