Bradley Beal To The Warriors?

If that sounds completely ridiculous, you have to remember what part of the NBA calendar we are currently in. This is the exact time for ridiculous trade rumors, ideas, speculation, shit like that. The latest idea once comes from Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst, this time talking on an episode of their podcast. Here's the quote for full context

"The trade there is pretty simple. Andrew Wiggins is involved from a salary standpoint. And then it would be the No. 2 pick in this year's draft, the (Minnesota) Timberwolves pick next year, and then I also included Minnesota's second-round pick next year -- which I anticipate to be a very good selection.

"Golden State would be much better off if Bradley Beal says in the next month, 'I don't want to play in Washington anymore.' Over the next month, I think they have the best offer. I think once you get into the season -- and they've already driven the new car off the lot with that second pick ..."

Despite the fact that Bradley Beal has said over and over and over that he is committed to the Wizards and doesn't want to leave

that's not going to stop people from throwing out ridiculous trade ideas during the offseason. I'm pretty sure Lakers Twitter has already tweeted out the Beal photoshop. It's what happens this time of year.

Let me just say, the entire NBA is very fortunate that there isn't another Zion/Morant situation in this draft. If the Warriors had the #2 pick in let's say last year's draft, they absolutely could pull off a trade like this. Especially to a team like the Wizards who are basically about to rebuild. In terms of the Warriors need for someone like Beal, I wouldn't say it's high on their list. They seem to be in a pretty good spot at the SG position. But there's no denying adding that sort of talent would make their offense go up a few levels which is a scary thought. Would you rather have Andrew Wiggins taking shots or Bradley Beal? Exactly. They do need to look at their PF spot and filling out their bench, but at the same time if the Wizards somehow would be down to make this trade you obviously do it. You can fill out the roster in other ways with league minimum guys. They'd also have to get some assurance that Beal would sign a long term extension because remember, after the 2021-22 season he has a player option. You don't give up Wiggins/#2 for potentially only two seasons of Bradley Beal.

In the end, we know how this will play out. Nothing will happen. The Wizards should be in no rush to trade Bradley Beal anyways. See what him and a healthy John Wall look like with an improved Rui Hachimura. Bring back the Latvian Laser and who knows, if they improve at all on the defensive end maybe they could sneak in as a 7th or 8th seed or something. If I were WSH I would much rather wait until there's a better draft too which it seems to be in 2021. Then if Beal is unhappy you flip him for a high lottery pick to whoever has one.

So while this may be fun to think about, I'd put this one closer to the category of no fucking way. We know the Warriors are pretty much the best in the business when it comes to roster construction and front office maneuverings, but I'm not sure even they could pull this off.
