Dr. Strange Will Appear In 'Spider-Man 3' Possibly Confirming A Live-Action Spider-Verse

The move puts Cumberbatch in the mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and by Samuel L. Jackson in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the latter reprising Nick Fury. The role gives Holland a chance to play opposite seasoned actors, gives Peter Parker a father figure and gives the movies extra star power while also tying them to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Having Strange as part of Spider-Man may help explain the returning Electro. Cumberbatch is about to begin shooting Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which will explore alternate realities and some speculate therein lies the cross-section.

If you know me, you know I fucking loved 'Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse'.

It was one of the bigger surprises in the comic book movie era I've seen. I'm a big Lord & Miller guy, but I was really worried about superhero fatigue setting in around when this came out. However, it turned out to be not only one of the best comic-book movies I've ever seen, but one of the best animated movies period.

The multiverse is one of the coolest things in the comic book world. The idea that you have multiple versions of heroes and villains, each with different personalities, styles opens up so many doors to the imagination. In the comic-book world, not only does Spider-man have plenty of multiverse alternates, but so does Dr. Strange. Considering that the multiverse was sort of teased by Mysterio in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', and the next Dr. Strange movie is titled 'Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness', and the fact that an seperate franchise spider-man villain was already cast in Jamie Foxx's Electro, I think the live-action spider-verse is a safe conclusion.

Another factor to think about is the fact that Sam Raimi took over for Scott Derrickson as the director. You know what else Sam Raimi directed? Spider-Man 1-3. I don't think getting Andrew Garfield back into the fold would have been a that hard because you can tell he really did love the character, but Tobey Maguire is a different story. Raimi might be the guy to get him.
