UFC 249 Fighter Jacare Souza & His Corner Test POSITIVE For COVID-19 - His Fight Is Off, PPV Is Still On

Yiiiikes. This ain't good.

After 23 of the 24 fighters' tests for coronavirus came back negative, Jacare Souza's came back positive - as did two of his cornermen's tests. All three of the individuals were asymptomatic and have since left the premises.

Jacare's fight against Uriah Hall is now off the card, however the UFC is still planning on moving forward with the event so long as the Florida commission gives them consent, which, let's be honest - they're gonna do. It's Florida.

I really hope Jacare didn't just infect everyone on the card...

...because if the UFC rushed back after all of the concern that this couldn't be done safely, and DIDN'T do it safely, this is going to turn into a friggin disaster on every level. Looks like he was wearing a mask and gloves and all that shit though, so fingers crossed.

I was really excited for these fights tomorrow, believing confidently that nothing could stand in their way - but I will confess to everyone reading this blog right now that my b-hole has become 30% clenched out of fear that everyone in the UFC (including Uncle Dana) may just have the coronavirus now. That'd fucking suck.

Plus, couldn't this be true?

Shit, man. I really hope they're gonna pull this off safely for everybody's sake.

UPDATE: Classy response from scheduled opponent Uriah Hall here. I think everyone knows Jacare didn't want this shit. Dude risked getting the virus to fight for our entertainment and unfortunately got the virus as a result. Brutal.
