Sixers Ownership Gets Bullied Mercilessly, Finally Decide To Do Right Thing And Not Cut Employees' Salaries

So let me get this straight here for a moment...

Josh Harris (net worth $3.8B) and David Blitzer (net worth $1.3B) originally announced that they would be temporarily cutting the salaries of their full-time employees making $50K or more by 20%. They were then relentlessly bullied online for approximately 18 hours or so. And then Joel Embiid stepped up to not only donate $500,000 directly to COVID-19 relief, but also said that he would be committing to helping any Sixers employee impacted by the salary reductions. And only after all of that, Josh Harris realized he was being a penny pinching dirtbag in the middle of a global crisis and is now begging for forgiveness.

And here's the kicker…this only makes him look like an even bigger jackass. Because it didn't even take a full day of being bullied online for Harris to realize he 100% did not need to take these actions to stay in business. Like if he actually had to make any of these decisions or run the risk of having to close up shop for good, you'd think they would take a few days to come up with some sort of business plan to make everything work here. Instead, it was just 18 hours of people calling him out for being a cheap billionaire and he was like "okay fine yeah you're right, I could pay all of these people their yearly salaries like 5 times over right now and I'd still be good". It was never anything that needed to be done in the first place, just something he wanted to do to save some coin. They got called out for it and now they're walking it all back with their tails between their legs.

So I'm glad they finally ended up making the right call here, I just wish they didn't have to be publicly shamed to get to this point. Poor little fella. Maybe if you want to make some of that money back, you could just sell the team.
