Grant Ament Has Declared For The PLL Draft Which Is Just Catastrophic News For Defenders All Across The League

There are definitely some defenders in the PLL right now who were going to bed every night hoping that they'd wake up in the morning and find out that Grant Ament has taken the NCAA up on their offer to give all spring sport seniors an extra year of eligibility. They were hoping and praying they'd have at least one more year to prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the all out assault he was going to bring on the league. As if it wasn't bad enough that Rob Pannell made the jump over to the PLL this season, now they have to deal with pretty much an identical but younger replica.

Live look at all the poles in the league now.

This sick bastard had 96 assists last year alone. NINETY-SIX. That's an NCAA record. The next highest in a single season was 77 which was done by Steve Marohl in '92 and Lyle Thompson in 2014. And so far this season he was on pace to have at least 80 assists so yeah, the kid is a total freak. I mean how many assists did FDR ever have? No offense or anything but it's un-American if you don't put Grant Ament on the dime at this point.

As a college lacrosse fan, obviously this news sucks a little. I mean this Penn State team has been unreal to watch the past few seasons. They would just score at will and light teams up until they submit. And even when they'd submit, they'd light them up some more. Unfortunately, Ivy League teams were their kryptonite after their only 2 losses were to Yale last year and their only two losses before the season ended this year were to Yale and Cornell. But there's no denying the fact that this Penn State team was the most "all gas, no brakes" team that we've ever seen in college lacrosse. So the fact that Grant Ament won't be a part of that next year is a tough one to swallow. With that being said...he already had a redshirt year so he'd be going back for his 6th year of college. Unless he's trying to be a doctor, ending his college career was really the only decision to make.

But as a lacrosse fan in general? Just imagine what it's going to be like getting to watch this on national television every weekend in the summer, and then combined with the video quality the PLL social media team brings each week.

Also--we still haven't heard anything about what Pat Spencer's plans are for this summer but if he goes back to lacrosse instead of playing pro basketball in Europe? Buddy,,,,,,Grant Ament with the 1st overall pick to the Archers and then gets to run an attack line with Pat Spencer? LORDY!!! That would be the first team in the history of the game that somehow has more assists than goals scored.

And even if Pat Spencer doesn't come back to playing lacrosse just yet, the Archers are making out like bandits here because who knows how many more of these guys are going to be leaving school now that they have an extra year. It's a little different for Ament since he was already technically in his 5th year. But for a kid like Sowers or Ierlan who want to give it one last go? Could end up being a slim class in April and then the 2021 Draft class might just end up being 4 rounds of first team All Americans.
