Disney Has Suspended Live-Action Film Production

"The live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, which was 9 days away from shooting in London, is among the big productions being delayed.

Peter Pan & Wendy as well as Shrunk, a sequel to 1980s classic Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, both in pre-production, are also delayed.

The movies in production shutting down include Home Alone, Ridley Scott’s period drama The Last Duel, and Guillermo del Toro’s thriller, Nightmare Alley, being made for Searchlight. Production on Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings was already halted after director Destin Daniel Cretton self-isolated."

This was expected, especially after they started pushing back all their film releases to later this year/early next year. Still, it really sucks. The sequel/remake shit like 'The Little Mermaid', 'Shrunk', 'Peter Pan & Wendy' is evergreen, so that doesn't really matter to me. But Shang-Chi is looping into an existing timeline within the Marvel movies which is going to have to flex to accommodate. I was also very much looking forward to 'The Last Duel', a movie about the last judicially recognized duel in France. It has Ridley Scott behind the wheel with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver, and Jodie Comer starring.

'Nightmare Alley' was also looking like it was going to stun, with Guillermo del Toro writing/directing and Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, Rooney Mara and more casted. It's a huge bummer, but cinema will survive. If you're bored as fuck at working from home, make sure to check out the streaming blogs.
