Joel Embiid Returned From His Injury Wearing The Number 24 Tonight

It's crazy to think that without Kobe Bryant and the 2010 Finals, there is no Joel Embiid. One of Philly's greatest native sons led the way to creating one of the city's greatest adopted sons.

There are multiple generations now of basketball players who have grown up wanting to be Kobe. He left a lasting legacy all over the world. But for the 6'6" guard from Lower Merion High School to inspire a kid from Cameroon to start playing the game and then eventually becoming one of the most important athletes here in Philadelphia? Now playing in a stadium less than 20 miles away from the gym where the legend of Kobe Bryant first began at Lower Merion? That's the on-court legacy he leaves behind here in Philly. There are plenty of real life lessons that we can all take away from the way that Kobe lived his own, but as far as basketball in Philadelphia goes, Joel Embiid is now that legacy that he's left for us.

Thank you one more time to that 6'6" guard from Lower Merion High School. And another thanks goes out to Bobby Jones for letting this happen.
