It's 2020 And Carmelo Anthony Is Still Making Game Winners

Well would you look at that. Here we are in 2020 and Melo is still out here making game winners in vintage Melo style. Of course it was going to be a midrange pull up. The second OG gave extra help on McCollum and Melo received the pass everyone on the planet knew the shot was going up. Honestly? It was a great shot. Melo has the timing down so well with that move he's into his jumper before OG even recover. It's left his hand before there's even anything close to a contest. Melo has made that shot a billion times in his life, he makes that in his sleep and fuck it if you're going to try and steal one on the road in TOR why not. To me, that shot looked like Hoodie Melo in a July workout which is the highest compliment one can give.

Now, we should also mention the fact that they were even in a position to win this game was because of this bomb from Dame

let's not pretend like that isn't a gigantic shot also. I know this blog is about Melo, but I wanted to give love to that bomb as well.

Now that he has his first game winner as a Blazer, how has the Melo experience been going? Well, without getting into the nitty gritty, Melo's put up a respectable 16/6/1.3 on 42.6/39% splits with 1.4 3PM a night in 31 minutes. The defense is still what you expected it to be, and I'd say he's been a slightly better version of OKC Melo. The Blazers, once dead, are only 0.5 games out of the 8th spot so that's a positive. Sure they are still 6 games under .500 but whatever just get into the dance. That's all that matters. At the very least this experiment hasn't been a disaster and it's clear it wasn't bullshit when players kept saying Melo could still play at the NBA level.

So good for the Blazers, they sure as shit needed the win and good for Melo. I'm mostly thankful because after a certain terrible loss in Washington last night, I'll take all the help I can get so I appreciate the Blazers stealing this one.
