Coyotes Arena Trolls Kings About Taylor Swift Banner Ban, Kings Twitter Answers With Kill Shot

Back in October, the Kings began covering up a banner commemorating Taylor Swift’s house record for sold-out shows at the Staples Center (16) after fans complained to the team. Some of the more superstitious fans even cited the banner as a factor in their team winning just 1 playoff game since it went up in August of 2015 and not a roster that is about to have the biggest fire sale this side of Crazy Eddie’s (oh, and that Kovalchuk deal blew up in their faces like a cigar in a “Three Stooges” short).

Regardless of the effects of the banner, real or perceived, we can all agree that it is fucking hideous.

Those are Portland Trailblazers colors. The layout looks like it was done by a drunk intern. And it’s fucking giant enough to tuck the entirety of Los Feliz into bed with. The Clippers don’t want anything to do with it either. The idea of the banner is fine; plenty of other venues have similar banners. But the execution of it was Alabama prison-level. I wonder who could’ve possilby persuaded the Staples Center to put that monstrosity up.

Ah, makes sense. Nothing says “Girl Power” like Kobe Bryant.

Anyways, the Arizona Coyotes and/or the building operations at the Gila River Arena realzied the trolling opportunity before them and got their inner Mark-Andre Fleury on.

Pretty good stuff. Needed a lot more effort than most pranks, so may even say elaborate. If there’s a quibble, it’s that it’s really only for visiting Kings fans who asked for the ban. Because the players sure don’t give two shits. Still, kudos to the folks who pulled it off.

However, it’s a bit ironic that the team with a canine nickname was apparently unfamiliar with the old saying, “let sleeping dogs lie”. Because the Desert Dogs certainly, um, barked up the wrong tree. And the Kings weren’t going to be anybody’s bitch.

Oh my. The L.A. Kings went straight to the veterinarian needle and ended the Coyotes in this one. Just perfect Twitter savagery (is Kings Twitter back?). Which means some suit will probably tell them to delete it tomorrow. NHL Twitter needs more of this not less. Just be funny.
