Ex-Boston Globe columnist laments Deadspin's demise, rips Barstool for wanting to be successful

Add Luke O’Neil to the long list of blue-checkmarks weeping over Deadspin’s utterly predictable collapse. Minifans will remember O’Neil as the “freelance writer” and friend of Shirley Leung who got fired from the Boston Globe after he wrote a column encouraging waiters to fuck with people’s food if they disagreed about politics. O’Neil’s eulogy for all the site’s jobless writers does a pretty good job of explaining why all the site’s writers are jobless.

The other sports blog? Presumably he means the one whose general ethos is to make money and win. How much of a loser do you have to be to think accusing someone of dreaming about being successful is an insult?

Cursed jingoism? Fealty to authority? And here I thought we were just trying to watch some fucking football and gamble. I guess we found the one guy who woke up every morning to indulge in Barry “Rape-Is-Just-Surprise-Sex” Petchesky’s musings on the quality of fat girls’ blow jobs. We’ve asked him to come on the Kirk Minihane Show to tell us what he really thinks about red-assed coaches and capitalism, but I’m guessing 8:00 AM is a little too early for him.
