Real Guy Fieri Vs. "Real" Guy Fieri: Chapter 3
This has been an ongoing story that I personally brought to national light a couple months back. The case involves two different Guy Feiris. One of them being the Guy Fieri you see on Food Network, the other being a local chef/musician by the name of “Joey That Guy” who resides in my hometown. I’ve already documented all of this in previous Battle over Flavor Town blogs, but to save everyone a couple hours—the “fake” Fieri who no one knows about (yet) alleges that the “real” Fieri jacked his style and then made a living off of it. I have personally seen dated pictures providing hard evidence of this. He did an interview with a local news station further explaining the details and his actual encounter with “real” Guy Fieri here.
Throughout the course of time, Guy Fieri Corp. caught wind of this and sent my local Guy Fieri a C&D. He replied to their email with photo evidence that he had been cooking and frosting his tips years before “real” Guy Fieri. Crickets. Couple years pass and he eventually gets banned from MGM in Vegas because people were asking to take pictures with him. The owners allegedly claimed that although he was not telling anyone he was Guy Fieri, he was still trying to somehow profit off being in the casino while appearing to be him. Even though that’s how he’s always looked! I know this word gets tossed around on the site a lot, but that is genuinely bananas.
That was when I got involved. I talked to him at the bar I work at and transcribed the events on Barstool Sports. I knew the severity of the topic and the potential aftermath of releasing it to other media, but I still couldn’t have predicted what was to come.
After learning all I know now, I realize he was forced to claim to only be an impersonator to Judge Mathis and the news reporter because of the Cease & Desist. So he’s really a fake, fake Guy Fieri impersonator now because of all of this. I mean I don’t know if I should continue to make this guy a star or just stuff him into witness protection at this point. But now, in the most recent development of the saga, things may be turning around for him.
Could it have been an accident? I guess. But isn’t it much harder to find a picture of a Chicago cook who looks like Guy Fieri than it is to find TV sensation Guy Fieri? That’s a 3rd page of results find. For legal reasons I will continue to call this another “coincidence” but what we have here is the truth coming out on top. Other publications are finally starting to see the light. Pretty soon the true chosen Guy Fieri will be popping up in even more thumbnails and even more billboards and Guy Fieri Corp. will have to fight back to somehow keep the crown. Only a matter of time before the rest of the nation finds out at this point, but remember where you heard it first. Until the next episode of Game of Thrones: Flavor Town.
